Start Line Staging

Rest Stop #1 - Stampede

Volunteers will help with a variety of tasks-- set-up, assembling snacks, keeping drinks stocked... generally just remaining flexible and available to make sure our riders get what they need (drink or food). Rest stop times and exact location will be confirmed one week before the event. The rest stop team might have to pick up the supplies and equipment (pop up tent, tables, chairs and food) the day before or the morning of the event; an email with instructions will be sent the week before the event.Volunteers working at this rest stop are welcome to return to the Festival after the rest stop closes. Shift hours include drive time from and to the venue. On Course SAG

Volunteers will drive assigned sections of the course to provide assistance to distressed riders if needed, relay messages to riders, shuttle riders to rest stops and generally be eyes on the course. Personal vehicles will be used, and must be able to reliably transport bicycles. SAG volunteer qualifications and driving record will be evaluated by an event volunteer coordinator, and specific assignments will be arranged by the SAG coordinator. Strong SAG qualifications include being a mechanic, an EMT (both is great), or a HAM operator, and/or having previous event experience driving SAG. Mileage reimbursement.

Volunteers will move equipment and supplies around the event as required, assisting Festival staff with equipment needs and on-site vendor support. This is physically demanding work, includes light-lifting and ability to move freely around the event site. Reading and map comprehension are also required. Volunteers on this team will be based at the Volunteer HQ and will provide support throughout the Festival.

On Course Neighborhood Marshals

Volunteers will be ambassadors for the event in this essential role. Volunteers will be stationed at various locations along the course in the surrounding neighborhood to be diplomats for the event to neighbors, provide route-finding assistance, alert riders about upcoming hazards, and generally be eyes on the course at the beginning of the big day. Volunteers who live in neighboring areas are especially helpful. Volunteers should have the ability to firmly communicate in a tactful and positive way.

Beer Pourer

Volunteers will serve beer at the Expo. Preferred: Experienced food and beverage servers, since the job requires you to check IDs, pour and serve beer. Parking Ambassador

Parking entry volunteers will be stationed at various designated parking areas around the event, to monitor people parking, direct participants to alternate parking opportunities as required and/or direct people to the venue. Physical needs will include standing (you are welcome to bring a camping chair if you have one). Reading and map comprehension are also needed. Volunteers shall be sure to pick-up maps and check-out vests, at volunteer check-in upon arrival.

Finish Line Greeter

Volunteers will greet riders finishing the event, including alerting them on where to go next (drop off bikes at bike parking) and generally keeping the stream of riders moving smoothly through the finish area. You should be comfortable speaking assertively and corralling large groups of people. Physical needs will include standing and circulating around the event site as needed.
